You know who I really appreciate? The people who #mealprepeveryday and eat chicken, rice, and broccoli for dinner Monday-Friday. That takes some MAYJAH dedication, focus and will power. YOU GO GLEN COCO! I've tried that whole eat-the-same-thing-every-day thing and it just didn't work out for me. On the 3rd day, everything just tastes so bland and I fall off the wagon and maybe order a pizza. It's hard! Also, a lot of you are cooking for yourselves which is really tough as well. You always have leftovers no matter what, and I bet they go to waste when you JUST CAN'T with the tilapia and brussel sprouts anymore. I'm here to throw a little "foodspo" your way by making your meals a little less boring. SIDE NOTE: I am in no way shape or form a chef, I don't count calories or macros, I am not a food stylist, and I don't follow recipes. Anything with more than 5 ingredients freaks me out. So, if you are vibing on my ways in the kitchen, keep reading!
STAPLE FOOD: Lean Ground Turkey. According to the World Wide Web, a 3-oz serving of 93% lean ground turkey breast has 180 calories, 10 grams of fat, and 23 grams of protein. It's a food both low in sodium and saturated fat. I'm going to show you some easy meals that I made with the ground turkey. I sauté the turkey with a little coconut oil on medium heat over the stove. I chop it up with a spatula and add in sea salt, ground pepper, garlic salt, and some crushed pepper. Cook it all the way through so the turkey is white- add to whatever you want.
Meal 1: Ground turkey over spinach, kale, cubed butternut squash, with BBQ sauce as the dressing. Great summer salad!
Meal 2: Baked sweet potato with ground turkey and a side of asparagus. I definitely added BBQ sauce and sriracha to this one!
Meal 3: Ground turkey over spinach with brown rice, black beans, avocado, and salsa. The perfect turkey taco salad- minus the shell!
Meal 4: Ground turkey over kale, cabbage, avocado, salt and pepper. Sprinkle with olive oil and squeeze some lemon over the greens and it creates the perfect refreshing dressing.
Meal 5: Zoodles with ground turkey sauce. Here, I used my veggie spiralizer, found some marinara in the back of my pantry, heated it up with the ground turkey, and voila! Low calorie Italian.
As you can see, a theme with my ground turkey is salads. It's so easy to throw the turkey over some greens and call it a day. I love the combination of cold crunchy vegetables with warm turkey. I also love sauce. So BBQ sauce, salsa and Sriracha are usually my "dressing." Healthy, yummy foods don't have to be complicated! These meals took me less than 20 minutes to put together (aside from cooking the turkey) and they taste good! Bored in the kitchen? Try these out! If you are digging this post, let me know with a like or comment and I will put together another staple of food to put 5 ways! If you want more, maybe I'll get a guest chef to throw down on some recipes. The possibilities are endless. :)
