Hey Y'all! I've been away from my blog for a few weeks now. Wait. Oops, a month and a half or so? Well, there has been a lot of change in my life and I put this aside for a hot minute. A quick update: My husband and I moved to Austin from London, we bought a house, adopted a dog, got a car, I've been job hunting, and we are settling in pretty quickly, but these things take time! From the minute I was on the plane back to the USA, I prepped my brain and told myself I was going to be out of routine for a while, and I was going to have to be okay with it. This routine included my 5-6 days of exercise, 80/20 eating habits, my daily clients, and my classes.
We've been living in Austin for a few weeks now, and I am just starting to get back into a little routine. Exercise has been runs or walks with my furry friend, occasional LA Fitness visits, and I've been taking some TRX classes at a great studio here called Fit Austin. My meals went from eating out at restaurants (mostly Mexican, hey tacos!) for 3 weeks straight to finally more balanced. It's all coming together, slowly but surely. I've been okay with it too, and I want to give you some tips when you are out of routine and have been going on weeks long, unhealthy eating. (or even a weekend binge!)
RULE #1: FORGIVE YOURSELF. You're human, it happened. Life happens, and yes we can do things to not let it get to us, but it gets to us. The main point is that you accept it has happened and you can address it and get back on your health regimen.
RULE #2: RECOMMIT. What can you do to make you feel better? What exercise makes you feel like a bad ass MF with street cred? What gives you the biggest boost of energy? For me, it's treadmill sprints and anything core related. EMBRACE THE BURN.
RULE #3: GET OUT THE DOOR. Put on any kind of music that pumps you up and gives you the most energy! My go to's are Taylor, Beyonce, Drake, Lil Wayne, and any kind of House House House. Aim for 30 minutes of getting your heart rate up, whether it's a jog, brisk walk, sprints, anything to make you sweat.
RULE #4: GET BENDY. Follow your workout with some twisty stretches to, ya know, get things moving. ;)
RULE #5: BE HEALTHY AF. Make today the healthiest day of the week. Get your proteins, complex carbs, and greens in. Drink water like it's going out of style, and just be super proud of your healthy choices.
Remember you are human, shit happens. We can't go back in time and order a salad over a burger. Life is about balance. A balanced life is a happy, stress free life. This is the exact reason why I was "okay" with being out of routine. My life is a little hectic sometimes, and I can't be mad at myself for it being hectic! I just work with it. So, find what works for you, and LOVE YOURSELF!
